Eugene Venter was left completely paralysed after an armed robbery in 1996. He was hospitalised for almost a year, after which he struggled with depression for nearly a decade.

Then a Jack Russell changed all this. While befriending his dog Eugene noticed that his beloved four legged friend was sensitive to certain foods.

 
This led him and a friend, Theo Coetzee, to do research on various dog foods and manufacturers. . They decided to start their own business supplying dog food. Further research indicated many manufacturers are more focussed on making profit than giving your best friend a healthy, nutritional meal. This made them even more dedicated to supply nutritional dog food as opposed to what is offered on the market today.

They bargained a good deal to supply to the public at affordable prices. They also got a factory that was willing to manufacture other pet foods for them as well. In 2006 this venture prompted their new business, Dalvencor. A new range pet food, Eco Bitez was born.
